No smart-ass remarks. Melissa Manchester has a great voice, and though this song ain't a sacred cow for me, I definitely can't fault the woman. It was some of that overblown adult contemporary genrecide that now includes people like Celine Dion, but when you're a pre-teen girl, you lap that stuff up like attention from high school boys. I would have, if I'd ever got any attention from any of them. Lacking that, I had smarmy love songs on WKRC. I mean, it's probably just as well, but I spent lots of nights with a flashlight and an AM radio and Harlan Ellison. Novels -- I say novels, that is. I was way too tall for Harlan even then.
